Karen Osborn
Australia
Australian pastel artist Karen Osborn has achieved international recognition for portraits and illustration. More recently her work has focused on exploring the equine spirit. This body of work seeks to recognise and honour the sentience of the horse as an individual. Karen invites the viewer to see the beauty of the equine as a subject of grace and line, power and expression. She then takes us on a journey into the personality and soul of the individual horse. Her mastery of the medium of pastel shows in the confident use of line and colour. She has developed a recognisable style of subtle suggestion, allowing the viewer freedom .
'When I am painting it is the same feeling as when I am with a horse, I am deeply present, and everything else falls away. I am focused on representing the world of the Equine, as these incredible beings are revealing their true sentience and healing abilities as a gift to humanity. I have been blessed with an ability to clearly see the essence of the individual horse and it is a privilege to bring this forward in my art. I have a small herd in my care, and I am humbled by the space they hold for me and the world that they reveal to me.'
