Sanne ten Thij
Pencil artist, the Netherlands
Realistic, caressable and detailed. Three words that describe my work well.
My artworks are recognizable because of the highly realistic but obviously drawn style. Where the emphasis lies on a soft cuddliness, that invites wanting to touch the drawn structures.
I mostly work with Derwent Coloursoft pencils. Because of the waxy softness these pencils are well suitable for the style of drawing I have taught myself over the years, and have developed further. My biggest inspiration are horses and nature. In which I put the focus on the natural beauty of the horse, putting as much colour in as possible, leaving my backgrounds almost always white.
