Dutch Equine Art Fair 2023
12–15 August
Living Horse Museum, Amsterdam
The Dutch Equine Art Fair 2023 marked the first edition of the fair, held at the Living Horse Museum in Amsterdam. The exhibition brought together international artists working in contemporary equine art, establishing the foundation for an ongoing curatorial programme.
The fair takes place at De Hollandsche Manege, the oldest riding school in the Netherlands and home to the Living Horse Museum. The Dutch Equine Art Fair was initiated by museum directors Elsbeth Bos and Vincent Valk, with the aim of creating a dedicated platform for equine art within this historic setting.
Working in close collaboration with the museum, the exhibition was developed and curated with a focus on direction, coherence and the relationship between individual works and the wider presentation.
As a first edition, the exhibition introduced the curatorial framework that continues to shape the Dutch Equine Art Fair, placing emphasis on how individual works come together as a coherent whole and how equine art can be positioned within a contemporary context.
