Mirelle Vegers and Sjoerd Blokker during Museumnacht Amsterdam 2026 at the Living Horse Museum

Twee manieren om waarheid te vertellen | Two ways to tell truth
Museumnacht Amsterdam | 2026

4- November 2026

Living Horse Museum, Vondelstraat 140, Amsterdam

Overview

What is reality, and how much space do we leave for imagination?

During Museumnacht Amsterdam 2026, the artistic worlds of Mirelle Vegers and Sjoerd Blokker will meet in the historic riding arena
of the Living Horse Museum. Vegers begins with observation and the visible reality of the horse. Blokker explores the boundary between reality, imagination and the surreal. Presented in dialogue, their works reveal how differently the relationship between humans and horses can be observed and interpreted.

A Living Studio

Throughout the evening, the riding arena will be transformed into a living studio. Both artists will work live as a mysterious dream figure moves between the artworks, artists and visitors. Through painting, light and performance, the boundary between reality and imagination
will gradually begin to dissolve. Visitors will also become part of the story. Which perspective feels most true to you: reality or imagination?

My Role

As curator, I developed the concept and brought the artistic elements together within the historic setting of the Living Horse Museum.
My role includes shaping the curatorial narrative, selecting and positioning the artworks, coordinating the live painting and performance,
and developing the spatial presentation and visitor experience.
