The Windsong Horses

Overview
The Windsong Horses is a solo exhibition by Australian artist Karen Osborn at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre in Queensland, Australia. Opened on 15 October 2026, the exhibition brings together a new body of paintings and drawings exploring the quiet language of the herd and the relationship between horses, landscape and place.
Osborn’s work draws attention to moments that are easily overlooked: a shift in posture, the space between two horses, the ways individuals find their place within a group. Her close observation invites viewers to consider horses as sentient beings with their own relationships, vulnerabilities and ways of communicating.
Curated remotely from Amsterdam, the exhibition grew through close collaboration with the artist, shaping the selection, narrative and presentation into a cohesive experience. The resulting exhibition gives visitors space to slow down, look closely and enter the world of the Windsong horses.
My Role
As curator, I am working closely with the artist and gallery throughout the development of the exhibition. My role includes:

Curatorial Focus
This project demonstrates my approach to curating international exhibitions through close collaboration with artists and institutions. Rather than treating individual artworks in isolation, the exhibition is being developed as a unified experience in which concept, context and presentation work together to strengthen the visitor’s understanding of the work.
