29 October – 1 November | Living Horse Museum, Amsterdam

Applications for the fourth edition are now open.

Hosted by the Living Horse Museum in Amsterdam, the Dutch Equine Art Fair is a curated international exhibition dedicated to contemporary equine art. The fair brings together selected artists, collectors, art professionals, and visitors for four days of exhibitions, conversation, and connection around the horse in contemporary art.

With artists from around the world working across painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, mixed media, installation, and textile art, the exhibition presents a wide range of contemporary approaches to the equine subject.

Presentation options and exhibition fees

Standard 2D wall presentation — €675 incl. VAT

Each selected 2D artist is provided with approximately 4.5 metres of wall space, divided across four exhibition panels. Each panel measures 1.22 metres wide, allowing for a balanced and flexible presentation.

Dedicated 3D presentation space — €600 incl. VAT

A limited number of presentation spaces are available for sculpture and other three-dimensional work. These are open floor spaces intended for free-standing work such as sculpture, ceramics, installation, or mixed media objects.

Artists showing 3D work are expected to bring their own pedestals or professional display materials. These are not provided by the exhibition.

Combined 2D and 3D presentation space — priced separately

Some artists may be selected for a combined wall and sculpture presentation, depending on the nature of the work and the overall exhibition layout. These combined spaces are larger and priced separately from both the standard 2D and dedicated 3D presentation spaces.

Presentation type and placement are determined in consultation with the curator and based on the nature of the work and the overall exhibition layout. If travelling internationally, assistance with temporary storage or pedestal rental may be possible upon request.

Start Your Collection

New for this edition is Start Your Collection, a curated selection of smaller and more accessible works designed to encourage new collectors to begin engaging with contemporary equine art. Participating artists may submit one additional work for consideration within this section alongside their main exhibition presentation. Works included in Start Your Collection must be priced at €600 or below and will be selected based on quality, presentation, and suitability within the overall exhibition.

This section remains fully integrated within the exhibition rather than presented as a separate area.

Participation in Start Your Collection is optional and subject to curatorial selection.

Included in the exhibition fee:

  • Four-day exhibition participation

  • Assigned exhibition presentation space

  • Invite-only catered vernissage on Wednesday evening

  • Five invitations for the vernissage

  • Professional exhibition presentation within a curated group exhibition

  • Promotion via the Living Horse Museum, Paard Verzameld, social media, printed materials, press, and selected media partners

  • Coffee and tea for participating artists during the fair

  • Installation support and curatorial guidance before and during the exhibition

  • Opportunity to connect directly with collectors, visitors, and fellow artists

  • Eligibility for consideration within the Start Your Collection presentation

A layered public programme

Alongside the exhibition, the fair includes a public programme designed to create a richer visitor experience and encourage meaningful interaction between artists and audiences. This includes a VIP opening event, guided moments, family activities, and selected collaborations throughout the exhibition week.

Artist presence

The Dutch Equine Art Fair is known for its strong artist presence and direct interaction between visitors and creators. Artist presence during installation, the opening, and collection is considered part of participation in the exhibition. Presence during public exhibition days is strongly encouraged, as this personal connection forms an important part of the visitor and collector experience.

Who can apply

Applications are open to contemporary artists working with the equine theme across all disciplines, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics, textile art, illustration, mixed media, installation, and digital art. The fair is intended for artists with a developed body of work and a recognisable artistic direction.
